Nakalele Point, Maui is known as one of the more scenic areas of the island. Diver John Hoover discovered that it’s also very scenic underwater, although the currents below were stronger than he likely anticipated.
The massive vortex seen was caused by the water being channeled through the terrain. The powerful surge was also evident on the surface, with strong surf hitting the coastline.
Fortunately, according to the video description, nobody was injured.
