On Sept. 15th, journalist Erik Anderson of NPR and KPBS Public Television sent a dive team out to interview and dive with us Michael Bear and Barbara Lloyd (Founder of Ocean Sanctuaries) to document the citizen science work they are doing to monitor the growth of marine life on the Yukon.
The Yukon is a 366 ft long Canadian warship sunk off the coast of Mission Beach, CA, in 2000 to act as an artificial reef. At 366′ feet in length, the Yukon is one of California’s largest wrecks accessible by divers, and has become a popular dive site for both recreational and tech divers.
