The Northwest Diving History Association has their semi-annual meeting slated for Sunday, October 27 in Mountlake Terrace, Washington.
The Association is dedicated to remembering and honoring those people who contributed to the development of scuba diving in the North Pacific Region. They are working to establish a museum to display vintage diving equipment, photos, magazines, books and artifacts that define our diving history. They also offer educational programs and a traveling museum featuring the history and evolution of diving in the region.
At the upcoming October meeting, industry leader Bill High will be a featured presenter. His research began more than 40 years ago on high pressure cylinders, and he has produced a lot of “THINGS THAT YOU MAY NOT KNOW” about those tanks that we have carried on our backs so often. His accomplishments include developing the standards for scuba cylinder inspection and safety, and leading research in four major underwater habitat projects around the globe.
Mike Kesl from Port Angeles will share some of his adventures on the Diamond Knot shipwreck. Paul Schorzman, Tory van Dyke, Dennis Lucia, and Tom Hemphill will have stories to share as well. Guests are also welcome to share their favorite experiences and sea stories at the meeting as well.
The Northwest Diving History Association meeting is open to the public and anyone with an interest in diving and diving history are welcome to attend. For more information, visit divinghistory.org and by emailing Tom Hemphill at tomh2491@comcast.net. RSVPs are requested by Friday, October 19.
