Next week, November 6-9, the annual DEMA (Diving Equipment and Marketing Association) show is taking place in Orlando, Florida. The show is visited by more than 10,000 dive industry professionals from around the world and is a trade-only (not open to the public) event. It’s one of the world’s largest gatherinsg of the recreational SCUBA diving industry, with more than 600 exhibitors and thousands of others attending the four day show.
At the show each year, dive manufacturers, certification agencies, dive resorts, and virtually anyone involved in the dive business introduces and shares their products and services with others in the dive industry. Many of these new products are being seen for the first time and will be available to divers in 2014, and it’s an exciting look at what’s coming ahead. Well-known companies such as Oceanic, Scubapro, and DUI will be there, as well as small brands and new entrepreneurs introducing their products for the first time. It’s where we found products such as the RipFlip Walkable Flippers, DryCase, and Intova’s New 10,000 Lumen Dive Light last year, and of course the awesome GoPro HERO3 camera and housing.
While the show is not open to the public (and it’s an inconvenient 2,500 miles away), California Diver will be at there and reporting daily on the cool things that we think you might like – new and innovative products, new products from the industry leaders, quirky and fun stuff, and any “wow, that’s absolutely amazing!” things we see.
WE’RE TAKING YOUR REQUESTS!
This year we’d like to take it one step further – California Diver will be reporting all of the above, and taking your requests for what you would like to see! If there’s a particular regulator, camera housing, dive light, or drysuit you would like to know more about, let us know and we’ll do our best to shoot some photos and/or video and include it in our daily report. If you have a question on a current product, interested in how something works, or looking for the next generation of a current product, we’ll do our best to find out for you. Just add your requests/questions/ideas to the comments box below and check back next week as the show takes place. A complete list of exhibitors can be found here.
Of course, we’ll also be visiting all of the companies who have supported California Diver in the past and sharing with you their latest news, too.
The show is always very exciting and a great way to see the new gear and programs that will be available next year, and we’re glad to share it all with you. Check back for daily updates, photos, and video starting next Wednesday, November 6.
So start sending us your inquiries so we can plan our attack on the huge show floor!
