Watching someone scuba dive might not be on top of your list of things to see when walking into an aquarium, but when the woman scuba diving is 90 years old, you have to see it. Martha Loats, a Denver, Colorado resident, became the oldest woman at the Denver Downtown Aquarium to scuba dive.
Photographers, news reporters and tourists all took pictures of her when they heard the brave person scuba diving was 90 years old. Although everyone else thought her scuba dive was amazing, she didn’t understand what the fuss was all about.
She claimed adventures were a regular thing for her and the other senior citizens living at Clermont Park Retirement Community. She said that they don’t go there to die, they go there to live!
Before diving in the aquarium, Loats had to take a two-hour scuba diving safety course before actually diving, and she then had to pass a True/False test. She passed this test easily.
Amazingly, this was her first time scuba diving. After 90 years of living, she decided that she wanted to scuba dive.
Loats has gone on other adventures while being a senior citizen. She has sky dived, zip lined, and has gone on a hot air balloon ride. She seems to be one of the bigger daredevils that Denver has to offer, despite her age being 90.
