If you’ve ever wanted to try diving with a rebreather, Ocean Adventures Dive Co. in Venice has a great opportunity for you.

On Sunday, September 14, certified divers are invited to dive on the new Poseidon MKV rebreather system at the Pacific Palisades High School pool.

The Poseidon MKVI rebreather is a fully closed fully automated unit comprised of a breathing loop (mouthpiece, hoses, counter lungs and backpack), an  associated electronics module, and two independent gas cylinders. One cylinder contains 100% compressed oxygen which is added to the breathing loop as the diver consumes it. The second cylinder typically contains compressed air “diluent” to compensate for compression in the breathing loop as the diver goes deeper. It’s also a backup system, containing enough breathable gas to bring the diver to the surface in case of an emergency.

The Poseidon’s MKVI has 5 big advantages over traditional open circuit equipment, including 3 hours of typical dive time, safer and easier to use, it¹s lighter and smaller, requires no decompression stops, and silent operation that makes you part of the environment.

This unique event has a limited number of spaces and requires advanced registration. The cost is $100 and can later be applied towards a rebreather course fee if you choose to become certified. For more information and to register, email dive@scubadiveLA.com or call Stewart at (310) 578-9391.
