Scuba diver Joe Kistel got a little more than he bargained for when he encountered a small octopus on a dive in Florida – and it almost cost him thousands of dollars.
While underwater filming a video for the reef conservation group TISIRI, Joe came across a small octopus on the rocky bottom. The inquisitive octopus slowly made its way to the camera, and eventually wrapped it’s eight arms around it. It was an exciting moment, until the octopus took off with one of the camera’s gaskets.
“I think it was trying to take a selfie – but then I saw there was the camera’s gasket on one of its arms” Kistel reported.
It was Kistel’s second encounter with the same octopus, and the first encounter caught on camera as well:
